Jerrell Adams and Phillip Dukes are wanted men. Both recruits have USC and Clemson chasing after them with Alabama in the mix some and a few other programs. Every day gets us closer and closer to National Signing Day and these two prospects will be ones we will watch till that day. It now looks like both prospects are planning to announce on Signing Day or the day before.
The interesting thing is coming from a report off of PalmettoSports.com. The story states that both Dukes and Adams want to play at the same school. This sounds like good news for us Carolina fans. The common denominator is South Carolina and Clemson but most reports indicate that both players are favoring USC at this time so it seems like they will eventually announce a commitment to South Carolina. Dukes is a talented 4-star defensive line prospect from Manning, SC while Adams is a versatile 3-star athlete who can play tight end, defensive end, or even linebacker. I think USC will figure out where they put Adams if he makes it campus. They just want the guy to sign and worry about that problem. He seems like he would make a fantastic tight end but USC has Rory Anderson and Drew Owens already committed so he could end up at defensive end. I think Dukes could make a dominant defensive tackle and you could line him up with Jadeveon Clowney, Devin Taylor, and guys like Roderick Byers, Travian Robertson, and Melvin Ingram and you've got yourself one of the best defensive lines in the country. Yes, I said country.
So where will these players end up? I think USC wins out in the end. I've felt Adams has been a USC lean for a long time and Dukes was originally more interested in Clemson but USC did a great job recruiting and have been out front for awhile now. Both players should sign with USC and give them two more talented in-state prospects to help build a winning program.
The future is looking up for the Gamecocks right now and Adams and Dukes are part of the equation.
