Auburn's Adams Heads To NFL
Auburn is not only losing it's biggest star in Cam Newton and it's best defensive player in Nick Fairley, they are also losing star WR Darvin Adams to the NFL. Adams declared for the draft just before the deadline on Saturday and the school announced Adams decision on Monday.
Adams has led the Tigers in receiving the past 2 years. Adams caught 52 passes for 963 yards and 7 touchdowns in a junior year that saw him break the SEC Championship game record with 217 yards receiving. Adams is ranked in the Top 10 in several receiving categories at Auburn and could command a high draft pick if he has a good workout.
Auburn could be in for a drop-off next season with all these losses to the NFL and to graduation for several players. It's going to be an interesting 2011 season for Gene Chizik but I'm sure the National Championship he just won probably bought him a few years down on the Plaines.
