Nolan Belcher will be out for the season after an injury this weekend that resulted in a torn UCL. Belcher was battling for the 3rd spot in the weekend rotation this spring and had to be considered a front-runner with his previous experience. Belcher was named an SEC All-Freshman team in 2009 but took a step back in 2010 and only appeared in 11 games with 6 starts. He did finish the year at 3-1 on the season with a 2.43 ERA.

This injury will leave the Gamecocks hoping to fill a void by newcomer Bryan Harper, Steven Neff, and a few others. The injury also leaves the Gamecocks a man short on the roster and are now down to 32 spots currently occupied.

Tough break for the Gamecocks and Belcher but associate head coach Chad Holbrook expects Belcher back and healthy for the 2012 season.
