Frank Martin is scouting the world, it seems, to find some suitable players for the upcoming season of Gamecock basketball.
It seems he's found himself a big man for the Gamecocks in Jordan Dickerson.
Dickerson is a 7'1" tall recruit for the 2012-2013 season that appears to be getting heavy interest from the Gamecocks. He currently attends IMG Academy in Florida but has a close connection to Gamecock signee Thaddeus Hall. Dickerson is originally from New York.
His coach says he's an unfinished product on the offensive side of the court but definitely has the defensive game to make an impact in college. He's a good defender and an excellent shot blocker. He would certainly be the biggest Gamecock player in years if he were to enroll at South Carolina.
Interest from schools like Villanova and Georgetown are out there for Dickerson but he needs to get some good news on his qualifying score to start taking a few visits. He could visit South Carolina soon and could be a potential commitment for Frank Martin if he makes the trip.
He started playing organized basketball his ninth grade year according to this article from the New York Post. Dickerson has gotten better just by the virtue of playing the game of basketball under the guidance of his coaches in New York and Florida. The talent seems to be there and he played a year in prep school to help better prepare himself for college.
Dickerson would certainly be an imposing figure and could help replace the size in the middle if Damontre Harris does indeed transfer from South Carolina.
Frank Martin wouldn't hand out a scholarship just for the fun of it. If Jordan Dickerson is worthy of a scholarship then sign me up.
