Frank Martin picked up his first commitment as the new basketball coach at South Carolina and he's a good one.

Thaddeus Hall, a guard from New York, committed to Frank Martin and South Carolina last night to become a Gamecock. Hall has been through a lot during his high school career living at a few homeless shelters with his family but has worked himself into a Division 1-A prospect and will bring a lot to the table for South Carolina.

Hall is known to be a scorer and an individual who was the ball in his hands. South Carolina is in need of a confident player like Hall who can help improve the Gamecocks perimeter game. He's got a nice stroke and is capable of hitting a variety of shots on the court.

The relationship between Frank Martin and Hall has really paid off for the Gamecocks as Hall has yet to even visit South Carolina. He plans to take the SAT on May 5th and then will work to be a Gamecock according to an interview with TheBigSpur.com.

South Carolina needed something good to happen in recruiting now that talented players Anthony Gill and Damontre Harris have elected to transfer.

Thaddeus Hall is part of the start to a new era of Gamecock basketball.
