The Gamecocks are rebuilding their roster.
It looks like they are doing it in one night.
South Carolina landed another commitment from Laimonas Chatkevicius from Lithuania who was a previous signee with Frank Martin at Kansas State. Chatkevicius stands 6'10" tall and has a solid frame already so he could be a much needed presence in the middle for the Gamecocks, which is lacking with the deflection of Damontre Harris.
Chatkevicius brings a European game similar to what Minda Kacinas will bring to the table. He can take his game outside to the three-point line and can run up and down the court in an up tempo offense. The only question right now is how strong he'll be in the middle. He'll need to develop an attitude to bang down low with the big men of the SEC but he's got the frame to build on. He could also be a mismatch with his outside game.
Frank Martin has had to deal with a lot of turnover on his roster and had six open scholarships after losing Harris and Anthony Gill with Bruce Ellington being on football scholarship. He's now added Kacinas, Thaddeus Hall and Chatkevicius to go along with Tyrone Haughton for this class. He's got two scholarships left and could land a commitment from Tarik Phillip, a 6'3" combo guard originally from New York.
It's a whole new ball game with Frank Martin in town and he's revamping the roster one player at a time.
We can call him "Lemon" - thanks @KB09Gamecock!
