South Carolina star defensive end Jadeveon Clowney may miss the rest of spring practice after suffering a recent neck injury on a collision with teammate J.T. Surratt doing a stunt during Friday's practice.

I think defensive coordinator Lorenzo Ward is okay if Clowney misses the rest of spring practice.

"His neck and back is still stiff. Whether he goes another snap (this spring), I don’t care," said Ward after practice on Tuesday.

It's considered a minor injury and not one that's expected to linger on for Clowney much longer than a few weeks. He was widely expected to sit out most, if not all, of the upcoming spring game this Saturday.

Clowney himself wasn't sure what his status was for the rest of the spring on whether he would return to the practice fields.

“I don't know. It's up to the coaches.”

Clowney sat out Saturday's scrimmage as well as Friday's practice and was asked how he felt after practice on Tuesday.

“My back and my neck are hurting me," said Clowney. "I should be okay after spring ball, I should be coming around.”

At this point, you shouldn't expect Clowney to return to practice for the rest of the spring and just get ready to see what he can do in 2013. We all know he's got the pass rush down but does plan on working on something else this upcoming season.

“Coming into 2013, I want to focus on more run stopping. Get my hands right, get my feet right, getting stronger."

Clowney getting stronger spells danger for everyone.

The Gamecocks will return to the practice fields on Thursday, April 11.
