The Gamecocks are looking for their replacement to All-American Marcus Lattimore and may have found a potential suitor in David Williams.

David Williams, a 6-1, 203-pound running back from Philadelphia, committed to South Carolina Friday night during the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl Game. Williams has been considered a long-time Gamecock lean, some even considered him a silent commitment, and he went public with his decision for the Gamecocks during Friday night's game.

South Carolina has picked up a talented running back who is considered one of the best in the country. Williams rushed for over 1,800 yards during his senior season along with 22 rushing touchdowns. He's a bigger back that has a nice burst of speed and quickness that should help him excel at the next level. The only concern would be playing upright and leaving himself open for big hits in college but he's definitely a coachable player and a guy that could have a big career with the Gamecocks.

Williams had this to say about choosing South Carolina:

From the beginning of the recruiting process, they've been there strong. They've been in my house, Coach Spurrier showed a lot of interest. That stood out to me.

When asked about how he'll fit in with the Gamecocks' offense:

I think I'll fit perfect. I'll come in and have an opportunity to play early.

This is the 20th commitment for South Carolina in the 2013 recruiting class.

Welcome to the Gamecock Nation David Williams!
