South Carolina is in some serious need for linebacker help in this 2013 class and the Gamecocks are involved with a commitment from Penn State who set his official visit to South Carolina.

Jonathan Walton, a three-star linebacker from Alabama, set his official visit to South Carolina for the weekend of January 18. This is the big recruiting weekend for the Gamecocks and bringing Walton in during a time when there's a lot of other Gamecock recruits on campus is an ideal situation for a school looking to replace its top four linebackers after the 2012 season.

Walton is a recent commitment to Penn State, committing on December 9, 2012, but has been receptive to the interest from the Gamecocks. South Carolina made a visit to his school on Friday, January 4 and was able to get the official visit set in stone.

Walton is a 6-1, 227-pound inside linebacker on the 247sports.com network. He has offers from Penn State, South Alabama, South Carolina, Minnesota, Troy and UAB.
