South Carolina has been in heavy pursuit of four-star wide receiver prospect Jalen Christian from Damascus, Maryland.

The good news for the Gamecocks may be on the way on Thursday because Christian is expected to make his commitment public to his school of choice.

Christian has long been considered a lean to the Gamecocks and the Crystal Ball currently shows a 74% prediction percentage in favor of the Gamecocks. His primary recruiter, G.A. Mangus, has been after Christian for a long time and his efforts appear to have paid off.

Christian's size of 5-10, 165 pounds is something South Carolina has been able to use in their offense in recent years with similar type receivers like Bruce Ellington, who was just drafted in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He's a quick, elusive receiver that has playmaking ability and would fit in nicely with the Gamecock offense in the future. The opportunity for playing time will be there too considering Ellington left early and Damiere Byrd, another small receiver for the Gamecocks, will be gone after this season.

The two schools here in the running are South Carolina and his home state team, Maryland.

However, it would be a major upset at this point if Christian doesn't select the Gamecocks on Thursday.
