South Carolina will have seven players representing the Gamecocks in this year's NFL Combine.
The seven Gamecocks that were invited is as follows:
- Justice Cunningham - TE
- DeVonte Holloman - LB/SPUR
- T.J. Johnson - OL
- Marcus Lattimore - RB
- Ace Sanders - WR
- D.J. Swearinger - S
- Devin Taylor - DE
These Gamecocks have been at the forefront of the program's rise over the last few years and are all certainly NFL-caliber talent. Marcus Lattimore could still be the first Gamecock drafted even though he's in the process of returning from a serious knee injury suffered in late October of 2012. Lattimore will likely go through the interview process, give updates on his rehab, etc. but most likely won't perform in any of the drills at the combine.
Ace Sanders is an early entrant to the NFL draft as a junior from the Gamecocks. He set the record for punt return yards in a season in 2012 and became a higher-profile receiving threat for the Gamecocks this past season as well.
The majority of the Gamecocks will likely go in the middle to late rounds in this year's NFL draft but the NFL Combine will certainly give players an opportunity to improve their draft stock like Devin Taylor. Taylor performed well in the East-West Shrine Game and has the physical attributes that should impress in a setting like this.
Whatever happens, these Gamecocks will certainly be remembered for years to come thanks to their contributions to the program.
The NFL Combine begins later in February on the 20th and will continue through the 26th based on the groupings of when players are scheduled to arrive.
