South Carolina knows where its going bowling.

The Gamecocks earned a bid to The Capital One Bowl, where they will face off against the Big 10's Wisconsin Badgers.

This will be the Gamecocks second trip to Orlando for the Capital One Bowl in three years. South Carolina faced off against Nebraska in the 2012 Capital One Bowl, where they defeated the Cornhuskers 30-13.

It was a solid season for South Carolina that saw them finish ninth in the BCS standings and in the Top 10 in both the Associated Press and the USA Today Coaches Polls. The 10-win regular season was capped with a victory over then-ranked No. 6 Clemson Tigers by a score of 31-17. This is the Gamecock's third straight 10-win season and a win in the Capital One Bowl will give them their third straight 11-win season.

Steve Spurrier spoke on Sunday night regarding the Capital One Bowl and certainly gave it some high praise.

"We are thrilled to be selected to play in the Capital One Bowl," said Steve Spurrier on Sunday night.

"I really believe the Capital One Bowl is, by far, the best bowl for the team, school and fans." Coach Spurrier went on to say that, "This is the best place for us to go. There's no question. It's an excellent trip. There's something to do all the time."

Early on this week, it seemed the Gamecocks were possibly lobbying for a bowl bid in the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, but those hopes were dashed when Oklahoma upset Oklahoma State this past Saturday. A matchup between Spurrier and Sooners head coach Bob Stoops would have been a ratings smash and one Spurrier was behind. However, the Capital One Bowl is the best non-BCS bowl game there is and the Gamecocks are certainly happy to be headed back to Orlando.

With the bowl game a few weeks away, South Carolina will start preparations this week with a light practice schedule this week but will really start diving into this matchup in the coming weeks.

The 68th edition of the Capital One Bowl will be played on January 1st at 1:00 p.m. at the Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium and will be televised nationally by ESPN on ABC.
