The Gamecocks' best pro prospect heading into the 2011 season ended up hearing his name called in the second round.
He plans to make the other teams pay for passing up a chance to draft the record-breaking wide receiver from the Gamecocks.
Alshon Jeffery finally had his name called by the Chicago Bears with the 45th overall pick of the 2012 NFL Draft. The Bears have Brandon Marshall at one wide receiver spot and Alshon Jeffery can step right in and fill the other side for the Bears. Jay Cutler has to be a happy man right about now.
Jeffery broke records and the hearts of his opponents as Gamecock with his incredible positioning on the jump ball and big-play ability. He has a knack for going up for the ball and always coming down with the tough catch. He's got the size right now and has dropped his weight down to 216 pounds and can now run a 4.5 40-yard dash. The question marks with Jeffery are related to what type of player he will be at this weight now after playing most of his career at South Carolina at around 230 pounds.
He was a highlight-reel machine from that impressive performance against Kentucky all the way to his final game against Nebraska in the Capital One Bowl. He's a great young man and now he has a chance to play on one of the greatest NFL franchises.
Congrats to Alshon Jeffery!
