The Gamecocks picked up their first commitment in over two weeks and it's a good one.
Four-star cornerback Brendan Langley committed to South Carolina today over Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee. Langley was at one time considered a lean to the Bulldogs and Alabama but the Gamecocks were able to catch a few breaks and stay in it long enough to land Langley's commitment.
The 6'1", 180-pound cornerback is a big, physical player with speed in the 4.6 range in the 40-yard-dash. He chose the Gamecocks based on his opportunity to play under Coach Spurrier, play in the SEC and a chance at the NFL.
He's come to the right place for that.
South Carolina is definitely known as "DBU" as defensive backs have been their speciality over the years. A perfect example is recent first-round draft pick Stephon Gilmore.
Langley has the makeup and physical tools to compete with the best in the conference. He will need to sharpen his skills at the next level but look for him to impress right away when he makes it to campus in 2013.
South Carolina is in need of some top notch cornerbacks and Brendan Langley is a huge blessing for this Gamecocks' defense for the future.
This is the 21st commitment for the Gamecocks class of 2013.
Welcome aboard Brendan Langley!
