South Carolina picked up some great news Monday afternoon when linebacker Larenz Bryant committed to the Gamecocks, according to several reports on Twitter.
Bryant is a four-star linebacker recruit from North Carolina who gives South Carolina another talented, immediate impact type of player at the next level. He joins other talented linebacker commitments like Matt Rolin and Brandon Golson.
Right now, he plays both ways for his high school in Charlotte, North Carolina but will be a linebacker for the Gamecocks when he enrolls. He has 4.43 40-yard dash speed but does have a bit of a smaller frame currently weighing 210 pounds and standing 6'1" tall. He can certainly add some weight and be effective at the next level. This may be the only issue right now with Bryant as he excels at everything else.
South Carolina has been recruiting Bryant for a long time and has always considered the Gamecocks one of his favorites. Clemson, Virginia, Florida and Wake Forest were a few other schools mentioned when talking about Bryant's favorites before committing to South Carolina.
Bryant is the 18th commitment for the class of 2013.
He's a welcome addition to this linebacker group that loses several senior players after the 2012 season. Larenz Bryant has the makings of the future star at linebacker and South Carolina is lucky to have him in the fold.
