South Carolina picked up a nice surprise Friday evening when SPUR prospect Mohamed Camara committed to the Gamecocks.

Camara has been a guy that's favored the Gamecocks for weeks now and was one of those players who was destined for a commitment. I guess the time was right on Friday night.

The 6'2" tall prospect out of Cumming, Georgia is a three-star prospect on the network. He weighs 205 and is listed as an outside linebacker/safety prospect. South Carolina knows exactly where they'll put him and that's at the SPUR position.

He currently owns offers from just Western Kentucky and Jacksonville State but was receiving interest from Arkansas, Miami, Missouri and Mississippi State. He's a bit of the "under-the-radar" prospect at the moment and is likely a solid commitment to South Carolina. His offer list probably won't expand on what he currently has but let's give the Gamecocks the benefit of the doubt here. This coaching staff can evaluate talent with the best of them and definitely seem to find an eye on prospects before they explode on the recruiting circuit.

South Carolina likes where he fits in the scheme of this defense at the SPUR position and that should be enough for Gamecock fans to be excited.

Camara is the seventh commitment of the 2013 class for the Gamecocks.
