South Carolina defeated Arkansas 52-7 on Saturday in the definition of a "rout." The Gamecocks rolled on offense and played extremely well on defense for what is, by far, their best game of the season.

There were several outstanding performances from Saturday's game and here are this week's Gamecock Props of the Game.

  • South Carolina Defense - This is an area that has been through a lot this season. It's been inconsistent play almost weekly from this unit with several miscues and missed assignments. Not on Saturday. The Gamecock defense settled down after the opening drive to hold Arkansas to just 248 yards of total offense. Sure, there were a few issues here and there but this is the most complete performance we've seen all season long. It was a welcomed sight.
  •
  • QB Connor Shaw - Shaw once again showcased a consistent approach from the quarterback spot and was smart and efficient with the football all game long. There were a few dropped passes early that hurt his completion percentage but Shaw still finished with 219 yards on 19-of-28 passing with three touchdowns. No turnovers by Shaw and he led the offense with ease on nearly every drive. This guy is stepping into a class of his own in South Carolina history.
  •
  • RB Mike Davis - Just like Shaw, this is a weekly thing for Mike Davis. Another game, another 100 yards rushing. Davis finished the day with 128 yards and one touchdown on 19 carries. He is up to nine rushing touchdowns on the year and is on pace to break Marcus Lattimore's record of 17 rushing touchdowns set in 2010. He's got a great chance to do it if he keeps it up.
  •
  • WR Bruce Ellington - Ellington dominated in the first half for South Carolina. He caught pass after pass and finished the day with 96 yards on six receptions with two touchdowns. He had a beautiful 53-yard reception in this one and is a player that is turning in some big numbers the last few weeks.
  •
  • RB Shon Carson - Carson deserves a little love for his performance Saturday. He finally stepped up and showed some of his skill in Saturday's game against the Razorbacks. He finished with 56 yards rushing and had a 14-yard reception as well. This should boost his confidence level for the next few weeks.
  •
  • WR/PR Pharoh Cooper - Seeing Cooper as the return man was a great sight to see. I've been hoping he'd get a shot and he had it on Saturday. He returned a punt for 35 yards and seemed capable of handling that role. He also had a 33-yard run out of the Wildcat formation and even completed his first career pass for three yards on Saturday. Mr. Do-It-All will be fun to watch for years to come.

It's also worth noting that play of Jadeveon Clowney. While he didn't have the stats that people expect from him, his energy level and attitude was great for this Gamecock defense. He seemed into the game early, appeared to be a vocal presence and was even seen running off the field at halftime with a smile on his face and trying to pump up the crowd. All those questions about his commitment to the program were answered on Saturday if they weren't answered earlier this week.

Overall, a great performance all around for the Gamecocks and one they can certainly build on for the future.
