South Carolina hosted linebacker prospect Cedrick Cooper over the past weekend and according to PalmettoSports.com he plans to sign with USC next week. USC has focused on several linebackers in this class and Cooper has received increased interest from the Gamecocks after losing LB Lateek Townsend to the Clemson Tigers earlier this month.
Cooper appears to be a hard-hitting linebacker with excellent speed with a 4.50 40-yard dash. He looks like he would be an excellent outside linebacker and someone that could be great in stopping the run. Here's his video to get excited about:
How's that look? Does it make you forget about Lateek Townsend? This guy has some interest from Arkansas and Ole Miss but is down to USC and Arkansas. He's a Georgia product and I'm sure USC is closer to home for him. He's got a spot if he want it at USC and it sounds like he may indeed commit to USC and sign with them on Wednesday.
Another prospect in the mix for Carolina with so little spots. February 2nd will be a fun day and nerve wracking trying to figure out this whole numbers deal for South Carolina.
