Redshirt freshman offensive lineman Trammel Williams has decided to transfer down to a lower level of college football in hopes of playing right away. It was announced this afternoon that Williams will transfer down and play at Alabama State.

Williams was thought to be a solid offensive line prospect coming out of high school and received offers from teams like Ole Miss, Stanford, Cal, and Vanderbilt. He was the #9 ranked center prospect coming out of high school and stood 6'0" tall while weighing 260 pounds. The Gamecocks signed a big OL class in 2010 and redshirted several prospects while bringing in a few more in 2011. I'm guessing this has to do with playing time for the young man out of Jacksonville, Florida.

I hate to see an offensive lineman leave but I appreciate the young man giving USC a shot. Good luck to Trammell Williams at Alabama State and USC will move on and focus on the players they have on campus for 2011.
