Phillip Dukes has decided to join his friend Jerrell Adams and announced that he will sign with South Carolina and become a Gamecock. Dukes is a 4-star defensive tackle prospect that is ranked #9 in the nation at the position. Dukes commitment to USC makes it 6 of the 13 top prospects in the state of South Carolina with hopes of #7 becoming Jadeveon Clowney in a few weeks. He's also ranked just outside the Rivals Top 100 at #101.

This is a big-time pickup for South Carolina. Dukes has the size and power needed up front in the SEC and he certainly can fill the gap with his size. He's got good height at 6'3" and weighs 295 pounds according to Rivals. USC is losing Ladi Ajiboye next season so it's a good chance that Dukes will be able to break the two-deep in the fall. It's important for South Carolina to keep this top notch talent in the state and great to see Dukes choose the Gamecocks after missing out on a few prospects from Manning High like last year's John Fulton to Alabama story.

Dukes commitment to USC brings the total number of prospects to 32. Right now USC has four of those players enrolled in school and will count back to last year's numbers. The total amount allowed to sign is 28 and if you do the math they are on the number. Jadeveon Clowney and Cedrick Cooper are left on the board for the Gamecocks. You can bet these numbers will work themselves out tomorrow so don't start worrying about that now.

Everyone should be excited to pick up this great player in Phillip Dukes and look towards a bright future.
