Four Lady Gamecocks earned All-SEC honors this afternoon for their strong play this season.

South Carolina's trio of starting guards of seniors Markeshia Grant and La'Keisha Sutton and junior Ieasia Walker claimed spots on the All-SEC Second Team.

Freshman Aleighsa Welch was named to the All-Freshman Team.

La'Keisha Sutton also captured a spot on the All-Defensive Team as she's a main part of the Gamecocks fourth-ranked defense in the 2011-2012 season.

Markeshia Grant is the team's top leading scorer averaging 10.8 points per game this season. Sutton has become one of just a few Lady Gamecocks to amass 300 assists and score over 1,000 points in her career. Walker is in the top ten in the SEC in assists and steals this season with 3.3 assists and 1.9 steals per game. Welch is averaging 8.2 points per game and leading the team in rebounds with 6.1 per game.

This has been a much improved Lady Gamecocks basketball team this season and finished the season with 21 wins. Dawn Staley has improved the makeup of this team greatly and should have them firmly in the mix for an NCAA Tournament bid.

The hard work of these ladies are a big reason why for their success this season and it's good to see them recognized for it. Congrats ladies!
