South Carolina Basketball: Gamecocks Drop Last SEC Regular Season Game to UGA 67-55
The misery that is South Carolina basketball is almost over. South Carolina suffered another loss on Saturday afternoon by losing to the Georgia Bulldogs on the road 67-55. This is the Gamecocks 20th loss of the season and they finished with an SEC record of 2-14, which is the worst in school history.
The Gamecocks started off with a 10-0 lead as UGA struggled to score in the first half but a big run by the Bulldogs had them in the lead at halftime. South Carolina came out in the second half and kept it close for several minutes in the second half but a field goal drought of over seven minutes killed the Gamecocks' chance at coming home victorious. The closest USC would get in the closing minutes was seven points after a Brian Richardson three-pointer with about three minutes left.
Malik Cooke was solid for the Gamecocks once again with 17 points and Bruce Ellington added 10 points as well.
South Carolina locked up the 12th seed in the upcoming SEC Tournament and will play on Thursday during the opening round. USC will play the 5th seed Alabama Crimson Tide at 3:30 pm eastern time.
