South Carolina Football: Drew Owens Undergoes Knee Surgery
South Carolina appears to be much deeper at the tight end position than in recent memory.
One of those players, Drew Owens, underwent surgery this afternoon to repair a knee injury that he sustained at the Garnet and Black Spring Game on April 14th at Williams-Brice Stadium.
Owens injured his knee catching a touchdown for the Gamecocks when he planted his foot and fell awkwardly after catching the football. He had to be helped off the field and was later seen with his leg wrapped up in crutches.
Here's a photo I caught of Owens leaving the field:
It's unknown what type of recovery time Owens will need from the surgery or what exactly was repaired but there doesn't appear to be major concern that Owens will miss any time in 2012 due to the knee injury.
Here's a picture of Owens right before surgery today:
Get well soon Drew! We wish you a speedy recovery!
