The SEC announced the Coaches All-SEC preseason team and the list includes several Gamecocks, including first-team running back Marcus Lattimore.
Overall, there are eight Gamecocks who were named to the various preseason All-SEC teams. Lattimore is the only first-team offensive player while defensive end Jadeveon Clowney was named to the first-team All-SEC defensive team.
T.J. Johnson was named the Center on the All-SEC second team for offense while multiple Gamecocks made the second team All-SEC for defense. Those players are: defensive end Devin Taylor, outside linebacker DeVonte Holloman and safety D.J. Swearinger.
Senior cornerback Akeem Auguste was named to the third-team defense. Auguste missed the 2011 season due to injury.
Wide receiver/kick returner Bruce Ellington was named as a All-SEC third team specialist as an all-purpose player.
It's no surprise that these Gamecocks were named as preseason All-SEC players. They have all shown their abilities at the SEC level whether it be just for one season like Clowney or for three seasons like T.J. Johnson.
If the Gamecocks plan on winning an SEC title this year, these players will have to lead the way. It should be a fun 2012 season.
