South Carolina redshirt freshman quarterback Tanner McEvoy was arrested over the weekend for driving after consuming alcohol, according to TheBigSpur.com. McEvoy, who is 19, was issued a Class II misdemeanor based on the North Carolina laws. It is considered illegal to operate a vehicle under the age of 21 after consuming alcohol.

University policy indicates that any player arrested is placed on immediate suspension pending outcome through the legal process. He will not be allowed to participate in any team activities at this time.

The young quarterback was expected to fight for playing time in 2012 with players like Dylan Thompson, Seth Strickland and Andrew Clifford. He's a tall, lanky quarterback with surprising arm strength and athletic ability. He was currently listed as fourth on the USC depth chart for quarterbacks that was released in recent weeks.

It's a tough break for a young man with loads of potential. It remains to be seen what this will do towards his status at South Carolina but, for now, we'll have to wait and see how the legal process unfolds.
