If you check the commitment list for the Gamecocks on 247sports.com's The Big Spur website, you'll notice a missing name.

That name is none other than Brandon Golson.

It appears that the JUCO linebacker is no longer considered a commitment for the Gamecocks and it's easy to see why. There have been numerous reports about Golson and his commitment lately. It's basically played out like a "love/hate" relationship as one day he seems to be a solid commitment, while the other he's not.

This recent Phil Kornblut article on PalmettoSports.com basically explains it all. Golson's JUCO coach says he never told South Carolina that he was committed to them. Pretty interesting stuff for a guy who has been considered a commitment for the last several weeks now.

As you can imagine, all of this back and forth likely did not sit well with the coaching staff and likely gave him an ultimatum: You are either with us or you're not.

Golson looks like he's not.

While he still has interest in South Carolina, he plans to continue to visit other schools including Arizona and Tennessee and has already visited Texas A&M.

It's probably safe to say that this relationship between Golson and the Gamecocks is probably over. It's unfortunate as he could have stepped in right away with several senior linebackers moving on.

Now?

It's time to move on.
