The Gamecocks picked up commitment number three today when Goose Creek linebacker/defensive end Gerald Turner decided to commitment to South Carolina.

Turner was in town today for the Gamecocks' scrimmage this morning and decided to go ahead and commit to the Gamecocks. Turner was being recruiting by South Carolina, Clemson and North Carolina before choosing the Gamecocks.

According to TheBigSpur.com, Turner is going to be used in a role similar to what the Gamecocks did with Eric Norwood. Turner has the ability to play linebacker or defensive end in certain formations so he should give USC some versatility in the future when he comes to school. He's got good size already in high school standing 6'1" tall and weighing about 240 pounds.

Turner is a three-star recruit on the 247sports.com database and has an overall rating of 87.

Welcome to the Gamecock family Gerald Turner!
