South Carolina's Melvin Ingram Takes Several Weekly Honors For His Performance Against UGA
South Carolina defensive lineman Melvin Ingram decided to channel his own Marcus Lattimore impression and ran a fake punt back 68 yards for a touchdown to help the Gamecocks to a 3-point victory over Georgia 45-42.
This effort was a big reason that Melvin Ingram was honored by several different publications with some player of the week nominations from different organizations.
Ingram was honored as the Walter Camp Foundation Defensive Player of the Week, The SEC Special Teams Player of the Week, The SEC Player of the Week according to Rivals.com, and the Defensive Player of the Week by CollegeSportsMadness.com.
Ingram not only had the long touchdown run but he also returned a fumble by UGA's Aaron Murray for a touchdown to give the Gamecocks a 10-point lead with a few minutes remaining in the contest. He also recovered an onside kick after a late Georgia touchdown that brought the score within three for the Bulldogs.
It's safe to say that Ingram's outstanding play is a big reason that South Carolina escaped Athens with a victory.
I guess it's true.
Everyone loves it when the big lineman scores a touchdown!
