Steve Spurrier has a press conference at 4:00 pm this afternoon and the reports coming from The Big Spur website say that there has been some staff changes at South Carolina. I, like a few others, assumed the announced press conference would be to talk about the newest USC early-enrollees and make a public plea to recruits to come to USC to help continue building on the SEC East title.

Check back here later for more word on the changes that have been made as the news continues to come out.

The Big Spur now has a picture up of Special Teams/Recruiting Coordinator Shane Beamer up with the story so if you put those two together then that means USC could be shaking up the roles of the coaching staff and moving Beamer to another area and let him remain as recruiting coordinator. He did interview with Miss. State as co-defensive coordinator.

*12:27 UPDATE*

It looks like Shane Beamer will coach only Special Teams now. He was involved with the safeties on defense but he won't do that anymore. Jeep Hunter will be involved with defense and Ward and Ellis will coach other areas of defense as well. He may still be Recruiting Coordinator but that's something we'll find out this afternoon from Coach Spurrier.

Nothing too crazy but it's certainly something that Coach Spurrier thinks will help this football team grow. It makes sense to let these coaches deal with the specialized areas and allows Beamer to focus fully on making special teams better.

This all from gathering info from people like Travis Haney from Post and Courier, C2 at, and a few others around the Internet.
